Dr Stuart Salfinger - Gynaecologic Oncologist

Dr Stuart Salfinger is a Gynaecologic Oncologist who graduated in medicine from University of Western Australia in 1995. He completed 6 years of specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology training in Perth.
He completed a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery at Monash in Melbourne in 2004 and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstericians and Gynaecologists in 2005.
He subsequently completed 3 years of subspecialty training in Gynaecologic Oncology working at The Royals Women’s Hospital and The Mercy Hospital in Melbourne and also the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Mater hospital in Brisbane. He was awarded a subspecialist Certification in Gynaecologic Oncology. He has a Consultant public health service appointment with the WA Gynaecologic Cancer Service at King Edward Memorial Hospital since 2008. His private practice is based at St John of God Hospital, Subiaco where it has been since 2008.
Stuart’s particular clinical interest is in Gynaecologic Cancer Surgery and complex laparoscopic surgery. He specialises in this area with a particular emphasis in the laparoscopic management of gynaecologic cancers. He is also interested in surgical teaching and training and is currently working on a Masters in Surgical Education.
He is an Executive board member and Treasurer of the Australasian Gynaecologic and Endoscopy & Surgery Society. He is a WA Branch councilor of the AMA(WA) and has teaching appointments as a Clinical Senior lecturer with the School of Women’s and Infants’ Health, University of Western Australia, and Senior Lecturer and Clinical Mentor with The University of Notre Dame, Western Australia. Dr. Salfinger is on the National Medical Research and Advisory Group of Ovarian Cancer Australia. He is the Obstetrics and Gynaecology representative on the WA Anaesthetic and Surgical Mortality Committee.

Dr Jade Acton - Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

Dr Acton is a Senior Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She gained her MBBS at James Cook University in 2006. Jade has been training in obstetrics and gynaecology at King Edward Memorial Hospital and completed her MRANZCOG in 2013. She has a particular interest in surgical gynaecology and has presented at many international meetings. Jade is involved in research at the practice and also surgical assisting.
She also assists Dr Salfinger at consultations.

Dr Jamie Stevens - Anaesthetist (Alternate Tuesdays & Wednesdays)

Dr Stevens graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2000 with MBBS. He completed his specialist training in anaesthetics in 2008 and was awarded his FANZCA graduating as the Renton prize winner for his year. Prior to medicine Dr Stevens was a qualified physiotherapist.

Dr Stephen Hilmi - Anaesthetist (Alternate Tuesdays & Wednesdays)

Dr Hilmi is a graduated with MBBS from University of Western Australian in 1996. He completed his specialist anaesthetic training in 2006 when he was awarded his FANZCA. Dr Hilmi has anaesthetised for high risk gynaecologic oncology patients for 8 years and has been working with Dr Salfinger for over 5 years.

Dr Tim Pavy - Anaesthetist (Fridays)

Head of Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine at KEMH for 16 years and on staff since 1992, having trained in anesthesia and pain in South Africa, Zimbabwe, UK and Canada over a 10-year period.
Originally from South Australia and a medical graduate of Adelaide University, he happily identifies as a member and note holder of West Coast Eagles football club.
Special interest in anesthesia for obstetrics and gynaecology, and a particular focus on pain prevention and management.

Aggie - Nurse (Mondays, Thursdays Mornings & Fridays)

Aggie joined the practice in 2012. She has previously worked at the WA Gynaecologic Cancer Service at KEMH and also works in Intensive Care at SCGH. She has a particular interest in Gynaecologic Cancer Nursing and has a Postgraduate Diploma in Cancer Nursing. Aggie will go through what to expect with your operation on the day of your consult and will phone you 10-14 days after your surgery to answer any queries. She ensures all investigations undertaken are checked and acted on appropriately. Aggie works part time and she is available all day Mondays, Thursdays mornings and all day Fridays.

Jessica - Secretary

Jessica has worked with Dr Salfinger since 2013. She has over 10 years experience as a medical secretary and has brought many of her skills to our team. Jessica is responsible for the day to day running of the practice and her friendly nature allows patients to feel comfortable. Jessica sets up all of the initial consultations as well as looking after the surgical bookings for Dr Salfinger.
